The Life Insurance Management and Research Association conducted a survey among Americans of all ages, ethnicities, educational backgrounds, and income levels, and found that fully 70% said that they did not have enough life insurance and would like to own more, but just did not know how to go about getting it or else had procrastinated because they didn’t understand it.

Group Life Insurance:  Essentially term fife insurance that pays a death benefit to the employee’s family or beneficiaries.

 

AD & D:  Pays benefits in the event of accidental death or dismemberment (loss of a limb, sight, or other specified loss).

 

Worksite Voluntary Plans:  These are a variety of plans that can be custom tailored to an employer’s exact situation and further tailored for employees’ specific needs.  The plans can be combinations of low-cost term life plans with rate guarantees out 10, 20 or even 30 years, Universal Life plans with premiums earning attractive interest rates in cash values that belong to the policyholder, and plans that provide paid up coverage at retirement (which can replace the loss of the employer-provided group term).
