Alan Zalewski has been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors for 33 years and served as a local President in 1988-89 and as Washington State President in 1999-2000.
Alan Zalewski has also been a long standing member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and served as local chapter President in 1995-96. The members of the Society maintain this Professional Pledge: "In all my relationships, I pledge myself to the following rule of ethical conduct: I shall, in the light of all conditions surrounding those I serve, which I shall make every conscientious effort to ascertain and understand, render that service which, in the same circumstances, I would apply to myself." Frank Satter and Alan Zalewski were original charter members of the Southwest Washington Association of Health Underwriters, part of the National Association of Health Underwriters. Community Volunteer Affiliations Alan and Frank believe that service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on this earth. That’s why they participate in various community and social service organizations: Alan has been a "Big Brother" for the past 3 years to a young (now 14) boy without a father present as part of the "Big Brothers and Big Sisters of King and Pierce Counties". This is actually his second stint at this; he was a "Big Brother" after his return from Vietnam service in 1971; then it was time for a break for his wife and him to raise their own children. There is a great need for caring, stable, and wonderful men and women to provide companionship, guidance, and example to young boys and girls around the nation. Its great fun: Alan gets to go places and do things like laser tag, baseball games, fishing, video games, and occasionally help with some homework like math and term papers that he could never do without his “escort”! In the 1950s, very few children with this disease lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond. Want to know more? Check out the Great Strides web site: http://www.cff.org/great_strides/
